Santuario de la Virgen de Guadalupe en Saltillo, Coahuila, México. Saltillo es la capital del Estado de Coahuila. Saltillo está a dos horas de la Ciudad de Monterrey, Capital del Estado de Nuevo León. El Santuario de la Virgen de Guadalupe está en la esquina de General Pérez Treviño y Francisco Murguía. La construcción del Santuario inició en el año 1911 pero los trabajos se suspendieron como consecuencia de la Revolución Mexicana. En el año 1918 la construcción se reanudó y finalmente en el año 1920 el Santuario fue inaugurado. La ciudad de Saltillo fue fundada en el año 1577 por conquistadores súbditos del Reino de Castilla. Para 1591 y como consecuencia de la guerra contra los indígenas chichimecas la ciudad estaba casi deshabitada y vivían aproximadamente 300 personas... Ante esa situación y para combatir a los chichimecas, 1,750 indígenas tlaxcaltecas fueron enviados a poblar Saltillo y fundaron el barrio de San Esteban de Nueva Tlaxcala. Para el año 1794 los indígenas tlaxcaltecas habitantes de Saltillo solicitaron al Obispo la construcción de una iglesia para venerar a la Virgen de Guadalupe y para tal fin se construyó un templo. En Saltillo hay varios museos que pueden visitarse: el Museo del Desierto, el Museo de la Batalla de la Angostura, el Museo del Normalismo, el Museo de la Revolución Mexicana, el Museo del Casino de Saltillo, el Museo del Sarape, el Museo de las Aves, el Museo de los presidentes Coahuilenses, etc. En Saltillo también hay tours para explorar lugares con fósiles de dinosaurios...
