'Un número no.....ni medio número, va a grabar aquí un cantante que ha pasado por todos los grupos de la Habana y no ha pasado nada con él'....'estás tirando tu negocio por la borda, tienes que buscar estrellas'... con estas duras palabras recibió Sabat a Espí cuando el director del conjunto Casino llevó a los estudios de la calle San Miguel a Orlando Vallejo para grabar con el grupo. 'La discusión se puso seria al punto de que le dije a Sabat que si insistía en mantener esa posición, ahí mismo rescindíamos el contrato que habíamos firmado con Panart...luego de varias horas de discusión grabamos esos dos 'palos' que inmediatamente se empezaron a oír en todas las victrolas, en la calle, las emisoras, en fin...aquello fue muy grande, apoteósico el éxito de Vallejo...' Para que tú veas lo que son las cosas de la vida, después Vallejo se posicionó como solista y Sabat le grabó muchísimo (RIE) Recuerdo que poco tiempo después me dijo que necesitaba que yo le cediera a Vallejo para hacer unas grabaciones con un trío y grabar varias guajiras, que eso no iba a interferir con el Casino... le dije a Sabat que el problema es que yo no era dueño de Vallejo y que si quería contar con él para aquello que, sencillamente, lo hablara con él, que yo no me oponía...' Así eran las cosas que pasaban, después hablé con Vallejo y le dije: pídele que el hombre ahora está interesado. Luego Vallejo, para solucionar algunos problemas personales, quiso irse a Venezuela y yo lo liberé del contrato que habíamos firmado, eso fue por 1953. Después grabamos algunos números en Panart, cuando ya se había hecho solista.
