Casino Royale is a masterpiece, it solidified Daniel Craig as the perfect James Bond while faithfully adapting Ian Fleming's iconic novel. The twenty-first Bond movie had so much riding on it after the disaster of Pierce Brosnan's Die Another Day, and many were unconvinced of Daniel Craig's ability to pull of the tux. The film we got, however, silenced the naysayers and ushered in what is probably the greatest 15 years in the history of the James Bond franchise. Many people revere Casino Royale for successfully rebooting the franchise and the kick ass action and darker tone, but even more than that, it plunges into the psychology of Bond in a way not seen since the Timothy Dalton films. Directed by the great Martin Campbell, who previously helmed Goldeneye, Casino Royale stars Daniel Craig, Eva Green, Mads Mikkelson, Judi Dench, and Jeffrey Wright. After receiving a license to kill, British Secret Service agent James Bond heads to Madagascar, where he uncovers a link to Le Chiffre, a man who finances terrorist organizations. Learning that Le Chiffre plans to raise money in a high-stakes poker game, MI6 sends Bond to play against him, gambling that their newest "00" operative will topple the man's organization. To put it simply, James Bond 007 has never been better.
